Note:  You must go through Travel Portland to get the NWFPA group rate.  They do not make outbound calls to book hotel rooms and anyone who does is not authorized.  Be careful as in past years callers offering discounted rooms for Expo were harvesting credit card numbers and not booking rooms.  If you have questions call 877.678.5263, Option #2.

Expo’s headquarters hotel for 2014 is the elegant DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Portland conveniently located within walking distance of the Oregon Convention Center, Rose Garden Arena and Portland Memorial Coliseum.  Enjoy convenient travel on the Portland MAX light rail, located directly outside the hotel.  Other properties to offer discounted rates include the Red Lion at the Convention Center, Crowne Plaza Portland Downtown Convention Center, Courtyard by Marriott Portland Downtown/Lloyd Center, the Nines, and Hotel FiftyView complete listing and rates here.

WHAT ELSE IS THERE TO DO

Green aptly refers to Portland’s many gardens and parks, as well as Portland’s close proximity to scenic landscapes in places like Mount Hood, the Columbia River Gorge and the northern Willamette Valley wine country.  Drinking and eating in Portland have evolved into a culinary adventure. It’s not just the restaurants, emerging neighborhoods, markets, cooking schools, microbreweries and nearby wineries; it’s an attitude that Portlanders have for what ends up on their plates. Fresh ingredients are key - whether you’re talking microbrews or seafood.  And anything caught, made or grown in the surrounding region is a source of tremendous local pride.  Portland is widely regarded as a food lovers’ paradise.

In January, if snow sports call your name, nearby Mount Hood has all the answers. With four ski resorts and North America’s longest ski season (including 90 summer days), this 11,235-foot peak is a mecca for skiers, ice climbers, snowboarders and hikers. The surrounding wilderness boasts spectacular trails for snowshoeing as well as cross-country skiing. Best of all, this adventure zone is just an hour’s drive from Portland’s city center.
