Dara Corrigan became Associate Commissioner for Regulatory Affairs at the Food and Drug Administration in September 2010. She has responsibility for staff and operations in the Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA). ORA, with a staff of over 4,000 employees across the United States, has responsibility for imports, inspections, and enforcement policy. ORA supports FDA’s product centers by:

Inspecting regulated products and manufacturers

Analyzing samples of regulated products

Reviewing imported products offered for entry into the United States

Responding to public health emergencies
ORA also works with State, Local, and Tribal regulatory counterparts to further FDA’s mission by funding cooperative agreements andproviding technical assistance and training.
Prior to joining FDA, Dara Corrigan worked in the Office of Health Reform at the Department of Health and Human Services on regulations to implement the Affordable Care Act. She also served as the Associate Deputy for Health Policy in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation since 2008.
Dara Corrigan began her career in the federal government in 1990 and, following a judicial clerkship, spent almost eight years as a trial attorney at the Department of Justice in the Civil Division and as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia. She moved in 1999 to the Department of Health and Human Services where she served as the Deputy Chief Counsel and the Director of Program Integrity for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
In 2003, Dara Corrigan served as the Acting Inspector General and Principal Deputy Inspector General for the Department of Health and Human Services. She managed a diverse staff of approximately 1,600 auditors, criminal and civil investigators, lawyers, public policy and personnel specialists in a headquarters office, ten regional offices and investigative offices in every state.
She left public service for three years between 2004 through 2007 to join the firm of Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C. as a partner in the FDA and health care practice group.
Dara Corrigan graduated from law school at the University of Virginia in 1990.
