Rural Energy America Program (REAP) Grant Applications Due December 31 - NWFPA Can Help!
Got a small (ct cost) energy efficiency project in mind? The USDA’s Rural Energy America Program (REAP) wants to give you a grant, and NWFPA is ready to help you qualify.
REAP grants are available to any rural small business (located in communities of <50,000, with fewer than 500 employees and revenues of <$6.5 million) for the purchase and installation of energy efficiency improvements to a building or process resulting in reduced energy consumption. REAP grants pay up to 25 percent of the total cost of the project. Preference is given to very small businesses (<15 employees and <$1 million in annual receipts) and to grants of $20,000 or less (a total project cost of $80,000 or less). However, since the maximum REAP grant size for energy efficiency projects is $250,000, projects with an installed cost of up to $1 million are eligible.
Even for smaller projects, the REAP application paperwork is substantial and, especially for smaller companies, can seem overwhelming. NWFPA staff has the expertise to guide applicants through the process, to fill out many of the forms and to assist in writing the project description narrative. We have significant experience writing similar grant applications and are available to help member companies qualify for these readily-available federal funds. There is no charge for this service.
The next REAP application deadline is December 31, but earlier applications are welcome. If you know of any planned member energy efficiency projects that would benefit by having 25 percent of their cost paid for by this federal grant program, please contact Rosi Marshall (503-327-2219,
