Food safety is a primary concern for NW food processing companies.  The use of Bisphenol A (BPA) in the manufacture of can liners has significantly improved the safety of canned products for the past several decades.  BPA is currently being reviewed by regulatory bodies around the world to ensure that the use of this product is safe for consumers.  NWFPA has developed this web site to help educate consumers and regulators on the issues surrounding BPA and the state of the current science relating to its safety.  On this site you will find statements from the FDA and regulatory bodies throughout the world as well as links to actual scientific studies used to develop those statements.  We have tried to be comprehensive and balanced in a way that will allow the user to develop informed conclusions. There are also links included to local, national, and international media stories about BPA.  Finally, NWFPA has posted its current thoughts on BPA which can be accessed through the link to our Fact Sheet.  We hope you find this site useful and we welcome your feedback and input.
